DRAMATURG SERVICE

Jack is available to provide his dramaturg services for writers, directors, choreographers, and theatre makers.

We define dramaturgy as the framing that holds together the total experience of live performance. The dramaturg protects the maker’s intentions whilst simultaneously provoking them to offer the most outward and unanswerable question possible to the audience.

Whether it’s a new piece of writing, devised work, dance piece, or something boundary-less, a dramaturg can be an essential collaborator to strengthen the foundation and execution of your show.

Jack's strenghts lie in:

  • Galvanising artists with questions that provoke and test an idea with critical rigour.

  • Defining and specifying a work’s proposition to the audience.

  • Script reading with a fine-tooth comb for pockets of deeper investigation.

  • Being a kind ear who can interrogate your work to find new invigoration and inspiration to keep going.

  • Addressing the realisation of your work at whatever stage that might be with signposting to help your project become realised.

People have said:

"Jack's wit, inviting intelligence and keen eye are second to none and he helped me fix and shape things I have been stuck on for months in an hour."
Hannah Tarrington - Actor & Writer

"Jack makes you feel incredibly comfortable in the early stages of development. He can identify the parameters of your work and challenge you to find the most courageous and authentic path through it."
Nicola Frew - Actor & Writer

"Jack's eye for detail and theatrical perspective have proved an invaluable addition to the project I have worked on. He is flexible, bespoke and detailed enough in his approach to understand what each piece he works on needs to reach its full potential. Get Jack on your team!"
Will Armstrong - Director
